SSHRC Destination Horizon Grants

SPARC Support Currently Offered: Yes

SSHRC Destination Horizon Grants support researchers to build capacity, foster existing partnerships, and further develop networks and/or consortia with European Union and other “associated countries'” researchers, with the ultimate goal of applying to Horizon Europe—Pillar II calls for proposals.

Destination Horizon Grants proposals are expected to respond to the objectives of the Research Partnerships program. SSHRC also invites applicants to review Imagining Canada’s Future’s 16 future global challenges and to consider addressing one or more of these areas in their proposal.

Destination Horizon grants are valued at up to $15,000 for one year. Successful grants will be matched by institutional funds for a total value of $30,000.

Application Process

There are three application deadlines per year, occurring in approximately September, January and May. Applications can be submitted by an individual researcher or a team of researchers (consisting of one applicant and one or more co-applicants and/or collaborators). UBC holds institutional eligibility for this competition, and so UBC PIs are eligible to apply as applicants provided they have submitted all relevant achievement reports for other SSHRC grants by the deadline specified in their notice of award.

Competition results are announced at the end of each funding cycle (December, April, and August). UBC will hold an internal competition for PIs interested in applying to Destination Horizon for each funding cycle.
