Dear colleagues,
In response to feedback from the research community, CIHR is introducing a new “not approved rank” in Notices of Decision for the Project Grant competition.
If an application is not funded, applicants will now be able to see how it ranked relative to the funding cutoff in their committee. For example, a “first not approved” rank indicates the highest-ranked application that did not receive funding. All unsuccessful applicants will receive a not approved rank, ranging from “first not approved” to the lowest-ranked application in the committee.
This change will give applicants a clearer sense of how close they were to receiving funding. We will also share this information with administering institutions through the Application Decisions Results report.
We would appreciate your help in sharing this update within your networks.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the CIHR Contact Centre at support-soutien@cihr-irsc.gc.ca.
Sincerely,
Adrian Mota
Vice-President, Research – Programs
