Support available for NSF-NSERC-SSHRC Global Centres Bioeconomy

March 14, 2024

NSERC and SSHRC are partnering with the US National Science Foundation-led Global Centres initiative focused on the bioeconomy. This program will support international, interdisciplinary collaborative research centres to foster cutting-edge breakthroughs in the bioeconomy. These centres will develop use-inspired research to address global challenges facing humanity in sectors of the global economy such as agriculture, health, security, manufacturing, energy, and the environment.

Through a lead agency model, the US Principal Investigator will submit a single collaborative proposal on behalf of the research team, which will undergo a review process by NSF, the lead agency. In parallel, Canadian researchers on the team must submit a simplified application to NSERC. Eligible Canadian researchers may receive funding from NSERC and SSHRC. For more information, please visit the NSERC webpage for this funding competition.

SPARC Support Offered:

  • Consultations (Zoom or in-person) are offered on an ongoing basis up. Please contact Alex Unterberger (alexander.unterberger@ubc.ca) if you would like to schedule a meeting to discuss your application, ask questions, and receive strategic advice.
