SPARC is hosting Test Your Concept (TYC) panels this May for researchers applying to the 2026 New Frontiers in Research Fund Transformation Competition.
TYC sessions help UBC-led teams prepare for the Letter of Intent stage by presenting to a panel of experienced interdisciplinary researchers from a range of faculties, who will provide constructive feedback and suggestions.
Held over Zoom, the Nominated Principal Investigator, joined by any other members of the application team, will be asked to present to the panel for 5 minutes, summarizing their project concept and how it satisfies the criteria of: i) Interdisciplinarity ii) High Risk iii) High Reward iv) Feasibility and v) Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Research Practice and Support of Early Career Researchers. Panelists will then have 20 minutes to provide feedback.
TYC panels will be held on Thursday May 8th from 10am – 12noon and Monday May 12th from 1pm – 3 pm. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To register, please enter your information and select your time slot below. Confirmed registrants will receive follow up information including Zoom links. If space is full, contact Kelly Cubbon to be added to the wait list.
Important note: by registering you are consenting to SPARC staff sharing your Notice of Intent summaries with panelists so they can prepare prior to the session. If you have any concerns about this, please let us know.
