Support available for NSERC-NSF joint call on Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer our Future (DMREF)

December 3, 2024

NSERC is partnering with the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to support Canadian academic researchers working with university collaborators from the United States to build interdisciplinary teams working synergistically to build the fundamental knowledge base needed to advance the design and development of materials. This program will support use-inspired research to foster the design, discovery, and development of materials to accelerate their path to deployment by harnessing the power of data and computational tools in concert with experiment and theory.

Through a lead agency model, the US Principal Investigator will submit a single collaborative proposal on behalf of the research team, which will undergo a review process by NSF, the lead agency. In parallel, the eligible Canadian researchers on the team must submit one simplified application to NSERC. For more information, please visit the NSERC webpage for this funding competition.

Canadian teams can request up to $100,000 CAD per year for four years.

SPARC Support Offered:

  • Consultations (Zoom or in-person) are offered on an ongoing basis up. Please contact Erin Evoy (erin.evoy@ubc.ca) if you would like to schedule a meeting to discuss your application.
