Review
SPARC staff will provide comprehensive reviews of full applications, which will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis as capacity allows. To register, please send your Notification of Intent to Apply to Mark Phillipo by Friday, September 15. The review period will begin Monday, September 18 and will end Wednesday, October 25. We are happy to accommodate our review based on your schedule, so please let us know when you would like a review and we will plan accordingly.
Note to applicants from the Faculty of Applied Science: As grant facilitators in ApSci are also offering reviews of Discovery Grants, we respectfully request that PIs register either with SPARC or with ApSci’s in-house research team to avoid duplication.
Webinar
On September 14th from 1:30-3:30 pm, SPARC is hosting a Discovery Grant Evaluation Group webinar, which will feature an introductory presentation, panel discussion, and Q&A session with UBC faculty who serve on the NSERC Evaluation Groups for the Discovery Grant program. Topics include discussions about the review process, what makes an application successful, and common weaknesses in applications. This webinar will be delivered via Zoom. Discovery Grant Full Application Guide and Resources
Available on the SPARC CWL-protected NSERC resources website is a guide to assist in developing your Discovery Grant full application. This guide provides suggestions for addressing the various sections of the full application. Other resources include recordings of past SPARC-hosted webinars centered on strategic advice from Discovery Grant Evaluation Groups members as well as webinars addressing instructions on EDI in Discovery Grants.
