CIHR Project - Workshop: Response to Previous Reviews
Warning messageSubmissions for this form are closed.
CIHR’s Project Grant competition allows applicants to append a one page response to outline improvements to a previously unsuccessful grant application. To maximize the impact of your revisions, SPARC will discuss effective approaches to structure your response and how to showcase the strengths of your revised proposal. The 1-hour workshop will focus on proven approaches to engage and win the confidence of the reviewers.
Topics to be covered:
- How to consolidate disparate comments from 3-5 reviewers
- How to address criticism, summarize progress and overcome negativity bias
- Prioritizing purpose, maximizing space and covering the key points of the rebuttal
If applicable, participants can bring reviewer and/ or peer feedback if they wish to discuss specific comments/ aspects of their proposal although they are strongly encouraged to book a 1:1 consultation session (~30min) with Elizabeth Cheu (Manager, Research Grant Development) to go over their reviews, determine next steps and develop a targeted response. Appointments will be accepted until June 9th.
Please note that the workshop and 1:1 consultations are open to all faculty members but that space is limited. Sessions will be held at the SPARC office.
There were several resubmissions of unsuccessful grants to our OOGP panel from across the country and the most compelling responses to previous reviews came from UBC applicants... I didn’t see any responses that were as good as the ones that clearly used your group as a resource
